"the tree and decorating...."

Ohhhh..............Christmas................we got the tree............. (LeRoy went too, but he was taking the pictures......)

The kids sat and watched me decorate it. All by myself. (that's ok because then it looks exactly how I want it!) We have never had a "lets-decorate-the-tree-as-a-family-with-christmas-music-and-hot cocoa-tradition". We live in reality where I needed to get it done and they weren't interested in helping! ha!

Got all of my pretty decorating done too. Quickly! And this year found lots of great finds at the Goodwill and thrift stores. Both of these silver tureens came from there and were both under $4. (candles and berries were mine already). Gotta love it!

I have had a lot of visitors and company this year. My decor looked great and was nice to have my house all festive and sparkly and cute.................and if you haven't come by to see me.........stop by!

I love to put candles in my fireplace and light them on Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

I made this wreath............thank you very much (all supplies came from the Goodwill, brand new!) Was fun to get out my glue gun and be crafty. I made alot of crafty gifts this year. (not sure where I found/find the time, but I will get it done!)

I even decorated the bathrooms this year.........

I have a super busy work week with this being the week before Christmas! So I have/had to get all of my stuff done this weekend. Hahahahaha..............I was busy all weekend............but I will get it done! And what doesn't get done, I just won't tell anyone and no one will know what didn't! (can't post my crafty projects till after Christmas cause some of the recipients get the fab gifts and read my blog!)

"the holidays are here!!!!"

So with all of the decorating, baking, crafting, shopping, (working!), parties, entertaining, hosting, wrapping, organizing, planning that comes with Christmas...........sometimes you have to schedule in some fun too!
We haven't been to Storybook Land in a few years. Always have the intentions, but time gets away from us and I know we missed it last year for sure.
So I casually said to my sister...................we should take the kids to Storybookland and do gingerbread houses........................her quick response was "ok, let's do it........Friday". Very spur of the moment (sometimes that works out best).
I'm not sure if we were more excited about it or the kids?!
Ok.....................WE were more excited about it. We weren't sure if we were to old to sit on Santa's lap...............and we stood in line.............and made the kids take pictures of us...........and this pic just about sums it all up.....................FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahahahahhahah..............their is a story behind this pic (I asked santa if we were too old to sit on his lap.....................ummmmmm......he said "No, go right ahead and sit anywhere you want!" Bad santa................we he totally flirting with us.........that's why this pic is so funny...............good job to the kids for getting a snapshot of it.) And he gave us candy......... Always shinnanaghans.................I think the kids might have been embarrassed? Oh well.........won't be the last time!

We decided if we wanted them to cooperate with our antics we better feed them first. Took them to Subway and off we went to Storybookland.

It's been a lot of years since I have had a picture of my kids on Santas lap.

The funny thing about the whole trip is our kids didn't protest (too much!) They are old enough I figured we would hear snarls, griping, complaining............NOPE! But we did tell them to just humor us and it would all be over soon. It's great that our kids are 12 yrs old, 13, 15, 16 and they finally realized it doesn't take much to make us mama's happy..............just go with he flow and let us take pictures and everything is good!

Like I said............I think we had WAY more fun than the kids...............(we are weird, but it's good that we are sisters because we share the same weirdness!) Me and my sister Donna.

Smile................it's almost over...................

So after all of the fun at Storybookland...............back to my house for faux gingerbread houses. We are going to use graham crackers instead (when you spontaneously do this, no one had time (or wants to!) make legit gingerbread houses. These worked just fine! And we spent a fortune on all the candy, frosting and goodies...........

Donna wasn't so much interested in "making" the houses...............just eating the graham crackers and frosting.............she didn't even bother using a knife...............dip and eat!!! (we may have had a glass of wine with it too)

Like I supspected................the kids were interested for about 5 minutes..........then there was a lot of candy, graham crackers and frosting consumed.............

And shinnanaghans..............

Nice to have the cousins hang out even though they are all (almost!) teenagers..........

I was the ONLY one that took it seriously and actually finished my house. And didn't eat all the candy..........hahahhaaaaa

The aftermath...........................

Good job Donna..................that is a work of art.................

Fun Friday night!

More holiday shinnanaghans to come!

"40 and Fabulous......The Decor"

When I decided to throw myself, my own 40th birthday party (nothing about that sounds right!) I decided I wanted Fruffy. Pink. Fabulous. Glittery. Pretty. Girly. Candles. All beautiful things to look at.
I asked all of my guests to wear white attire. I thought it would be cool for pictures (hahahha). Everyone gave me a little growling about wearing all white. But the pictures turned out so amazing it was worth the grumbles!! So I sweetly asked my aunt Michelle, cousin Angela and my mom if they would help me with my 40th birthday party.
That was a year ago I asked.
They may now be regretting to agreeing. We pooled our resources and all of our crystal and candles and birdcages and goodwill treasures to throw an absolutely stunning party. Angela's backyard was the perfect venue! Who doesn't have 3 chandeliers at their 40th birthday party???!

Lovely flowers from lovely Jaunita's yard..........

They made me decorate my own chair. So I made it fabulous and a table to go with it! I had my own ice bucket with my wine and a pink diamond wine stopper.....and my pink, monogramed, bedazzled wine glass.....(all about the details......)

This looks like the Motley Crue. Glad my butts not in there! I could identify all 4 of their backsides if anyone is interested??????

Thanks for all of my lovely gifts friends...............

I bought these lanterns at the dollar store! You can be fabulous on a budget!

I have been planning, shopping, bargaining, trading, bribing, budgeting for the last year for this party. It was the hottest day of the summer at a scorching 95 degrees! sorry to my decorators the day of the party for having to set up. But it was worth it! Great job and I loved everything. It's all about the details.............I'm still smiling right now...........
