"crazy and lazy"

Its been so busy here I haven't even had time to post! Memorial Day has come and gone. We have had lots of baseball/softball. Thank goodness the weather has been awesome. Brief rundown of what we've been up to. Oh, and of course working.Memorial Weekend:
Finally bought a large "turkey frier". Don't EVER plan on deep frying a turkey but found and awesome recipe for a "shimp boil". Got it for 50% off at Joes. Was meant to be mine because it was the last one and I wanted it. I found the recipe here. Saturday night I made it and it rocked! Seriously. TO DIE FOR. And it was fun. Nicole had some friends over to make smores in the firepit in the backyard and it was just finishing cooking when they arrived. So everyone ate and loved it. Absolutely divine. Be prepared for an invite cause I want to do this all summer.
Can't find my marshmallow roasters. I am sure I cleaned them up and put them away somewhere that I could "find" them. Hmmmmm. Have checked everywhere. We had to use metal "skewers". So ghetto and south side, but it worked. Nicole had about 6 friends over (mix of boys and girls) to roast mallows and sit out by the fire pit. They are a great group of kids. They don't mind that I hang out with them. The boys even roast my marshmallows for me! ha!Sunday we were lazy. Slept in. Went to the park to lay out in the sun. Ate some delicious cherries. Made enchiladas.
Then the busy week started all over again.

Kids have both had games this week.
Tyler played on Tuesday. They won 11-4. He played short stop and pitched and did great. Struck out 1, 2, 3 batters right in a row. Got on base with several hits and scored. Had 2 RBI's. Nicole had practice at WA and one of the mom's dropped her off at the game after. I saw them pull up to the fence in the car and the car full of Nicole's friends yelled "go Tyler" just as he was ready to pitch the ball. I was dying thinking it was going to throw him off. He threw a strike and batter was out! The entire field was cracking up and the coach said "bring those girls back!"
So tonight Nicole had her 1st game. They rocked. She plays short stop and was "the bomb". Had several good base hits, scored and had a graceful slide into home plate. They won 12-11. Good way to start the season and her farmer tan. Was hot so after the game we took her and Tyler out for ice cream. She had fun and a lot of her friends came to watch her play. And auntie Kam and Maddy came too! I love to watch my kids play sports. One of my favorite things to do.
Oh, and today Bff stopped by the salon and announced we are starting training for a 5k.
Really we are.
She has a 9 week training schedule and everything.
I guess since this is in writing, we are committed. :) Hold us to it........

"tyler's a pitcher, not a belly itcher....."

On our way to Tyler's 1st baseball game. This year we are trying JBO. More competitive and the kids seem to have good skills. GO REBELS! Future South Albany star :)
They look awesome in their uniforms. So we get to the field in Philomath and the boys start warming up. I look over and panic. Tyler is warming up as pitcher. I didn't know he was a pitcher. He had expressed that he wanted too, but what 9 year old boy doesn't want to be a pitcher. Obviously he's been practicing!

He was starting pitcher.

I was dying.

Nervous for him. Nervous for me.

All I could think was "please get it over the plate and don't nail anyone in the face!"

He struck out his very 1st batter by throwing strikes. Thank goodness!!!! He pitched a great game (only hit 1 kid, oops). He struck out several batters and only had one "bad" pitch, so to speak. After he "walked" the kid he hit, he went over to 1st base to shake the kids hand. Great sportsmanship. I love that the coaches are teaching them that. Coaches and "uber-dads are quite vocal. Mostly positive. But still loud.

He didn't do as well up to bat. Struck out both times. But he went out swinging. He will get better. Practice, practice, practice.

We lost by one run in the last inning!! We will get them next time.

"fav pics of the day.....post to follow"

Multnomah Falls.

"multnomah falls......part 1"

So we went to Mulnomah Falls yesterday. I wanted to go on Mothers Day, but my mother's day was a disaster. Notice I didn't even post that day. Let's just leave it at that.
This was my mothers day "re-d0" or "do-over". This is what I wanted to do. Trail to the top is 1.2 miles. Sounds easy. I walk all the time, how hard could that be? Well.......when the incline is about 45 degrees, it was another story.

Tyler and I did great. The other 2. Well......I was hoping I wasn't going to have to call in life-flight for LeRoy. :) Nicole said "this isn't my thing, can we turn around and go back?" Ummmm. No. We had no idea how far it was to the top. Seamed like forever. Winding, climbing, resting, the trail went on and on and on. Beautiful scenery. Interesting people.
This was about half way up. Well, I don't really know where the halfway point was! Stopped and rested. Nicoles feet where hurting. I told her to wear comfortable walking shoes. Who wears converse? I must say there were lots of interesting shoe choices I noticed on fellow hikers. Saw lots of flip flops? Are you kidding me? A few pairs of HEELS and wedge type shoes. Some barefoot. I don't think people realized what they were in for. And there is no way they made it to the top.

Tyler loved the caves and scenery. He found a walking stick and was on top of the world. LOVED IT.

On the path to the never ending trail........

Did we make it??????????????

"multnomah falls.....part 2"

Oh Dear God, we made it. And it was worth it. So beautiful. LeRoy survived. No search and rescue needed.
Hard to believe we started here and ended up clear on top of this waterfall.

Here is the "mouth" of the waterfall. See how far down the parking is? That must be why my legs are sore today. Was a great workout!

After our 2 hour hike everyone was STARVING. I had gotten up early before we headed out and packed and ice chest with lunch.
We drove south until we found a state park and ended up at Rooster Rock. Beautiful. Right on the Columbia River. Watched to boats and jet skis and enjoyed our lunch in the shade.

I made sandwiches. Cut up fresh fruit. Chips. Cookies. String cheese and ice cold soda and water. I could have stayed there all day.

So my Mother's day "re-do" turned out to be just what I wanted............................

"let the sun shine in"

or at least shine so we can start wearing cute summer dresses.
I found Nicole and I a couple of cute ones at Ross that were reasonably priced. She wore one today to school with a cute black cardigan sweater over it. Adorable.

I want all of these dresses for my wardrobe..........
With an adorable pair of gladiator wedge sandles. (these are from Jessie's sisters awesome store downtown Albany. I heart shoes.

"cool minty breath"

Bedtime tonight was very entertaining. Usually I get a lot of back talk. Dilly-dallying. Excuses. And slow moving kids. Tonight was full of giggles. My son is not "thorough" about brushing his teeth. Lazy. I am constantly on him about doing a better job.
I told him I was going to brush his teeth for him. He is 9 years old for goodness sake. I gave him ANOTHER lesson.
Toothbrushing 101.
Got him to bed.
My 14 year old daughter said "mommy, will you brush my teeth too?" Ummmm. NO. You are 14. (she is OBSESSIVE about brushing her teeth at least 3 times a day.)
I go lay on Tylers bed to tuck him in. We are talking and I pushed his hair back off of his forehead. After a few seconds he said "My forehead is cold, it must be from your cool minty breath". (I just brushed my teeth and used mouthwash). It was hilarious. He is still giggling. I can hear him in his room.
So darling daughter wouldn't leave me alone about brushing her teeth.
She was being lazy.
So I said ok. I was being silly and over exaggerating and brushing her nose (with toothpaste), her cheeks, etc. We were laughing so hard and toothpaste is all over the bathroom. I let her finish herself.
Then she said she "needed" to tweeze my eyebrows. Good golly, Miss molly.
I am a big baby. Hurts like a mother. She was laughing at me and making fun of me being such a baby and said "calm down Rambo". Giggles, giggles, giggles.
So everyone has cool minty breath, my eyebrows look great and the kids are in bed.
I wish every night at bedtime was so full of giggles :)

"walk it out"

My neighborhood isn't so bad. Tyler decided to join me on his bike.
He thought it was funny when I told him I was going to jog. (to that red truck!! ha!)

I am still alive! :)
